A woman has died after falling from the roof of Manchester’s Arndale Centre in front of horrified shoppers.
Police are on the scene after the woman plunged from the car park of the city’s busy shopping centre where another person was also injured.
The high street is blocked and public transport disrupted as emergency services respond, with paramedics and police officers called to the scene.
Police confirmed that a woman had died following her fall at around 11.10am on Saturday morning, the Manchester Evening News reported.
Greater Manchester Police said: ‘Emergency services attended, but the woman sadly died at the scene. Another member of the public was also treated at the scene for minor injuries.
‘A number of road closures are in place in the nearby area. This will also impact the tram services.’
Transport for Greater Manchester meanwhile confirmed the High Street was blocked due to the police incident.
